Dharamsinh Desai Institute of Technology (DDIT) is the lone Technical University in the city of Nadiad in Gujarat, India. Established in 1968 DDIT had high-held commitments to provide top quality engineering and technical education to young aspiring professionals in the state of Gujarat. Initially DDIT offered only Chemical engineering courses, but over the years, more and more courses have been added to the list of DDIT offerings. Today, the University is looked upon as the most premier Institutes for engineering and technology, at least in the western parts of the country. The University offers Under Graduate Courses, Post Graduate Courses and Doctoral Programs under the following faculties:
Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Commerce, Faculty of Dental Science and Faculty of Pharmacy. A five year joint B.E.+M.S. programme has been started with the University of IOWA, USA. As per another MoU with KHS Germany; the final semester engineering students undertake their four months long Industry Project at Germany. Initially, DDIT was affiliated to Gujarat University. In 1991, the Institute was given an independent status; later in 2000, it earned the label of a Deemed University, and was finally converted into a State University in April 2005.
